Meena Telikicherla Bio-Data:

  • Meena Telikicherla received her initial training in Bharatanatyam under Late Vidwan M. C. Shekhar and other well-known Gurus in Bangalore. She pursued advanced training with and is currently a desciple of renowned Gurus Shrimati Shantha and Shri V. P. Dhananjayan of Bharatakalanjali, Madras.
  • She has received her training in Nattuvangam from Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman.
  • Meena is the artistic director of "Nrityanjali", an institution for dance in Gaithersburg, MD.
  • Meena is a dedicated teacher, performer and choreographer. She has trained over two hundred serious dancers during the last twenty years. She produced, choreographed and directed and performed in dance dramas "Shantala" and "Malavika". She has given several outstanding performances in India, U.S.A and the West Indies. Her other programs include, television broadcasts, lecturedemonstrations at the Universities and performances at the Smithsonian Institution. She was honored by the State of Maryland as the performing artist of the year in 1991, and by the Montgomery County in1994 and 1996 for her contribution to the arts. Montgomery County selected her as one of the most talented artists and her production "Shantala" continues to be broadcast on the local television station.
